  • Glue traps
  • Live trap then drown
  • Essential oils – peppermint oil, citronella oil and eucalyptus oil
  • Owl feathers – place near rat infestation
  • Peppers – Capsaicin is the active ingredient that creates heat and reduces rat infestation. Add to chicken feed to reduce incidence of Salmonella infection in poutlry
  • Onions – the odour is disliked by rats and is a great repellent

  1. Place along walls in low light settings
  2. Put traps under furniture
  3. Use bait that rats eat- peanut butter, cheese, nuts or fish(sardines)
  4. Be sure you have the right size trap for the vermin you are targeting
